Description

Ball & Williams Ballard Sporting Rifle in what I believe to be 44 caliber rimfire or percussion. This rifle can be shot with a percussion cap and uses a manual extractor. Roughly 5,000 sporting rifles were built between 1862-1865 making this a rare rifle comes with a tang sight. The bore has some pitting but appears very shootable. The top of the barrel is marked “BALL & WILLIAMS / WORCESTER MASS”. Blade front sight and flip up rear sight, the barrel and breech block is numbered to the receiver. Nicely figured fancy walnut original forearm with brass tip and replacement straight grip butt stock with steel crescent buttplate. 28 1/4″ octagon barrel.
